When we are aware enough of ourselves and others to use language intentionally, we create a shared understanding. Clients who work with me learn to communicate with intention. Our work supports their ability to manage change, reach their goals, develop others, have a greater impact, and fully appreciate themselves.
I integrated what I know about communication, relationships, and business leaders into The Real Lead®, a series of learning experiences and a coaching program that offer a communication advantage. I’ve developed techniques and strategies for productive communication habits that enable building REAL relationships, one conversation at a time, through a nuanced understanding of what others are saying and the words we use.
After years of teaching communication at universities in the United States and Germany, I began work as a counselor in private practice and collaborated with Dr. Colin Ward to write Strength-Centered Counseling. This cutting-edge book introduces the skills and techniques mental health professionals need to empower change with their clients from the perspective of solutions, strengths, and well-being.
I’ve adapted this model of personal change and development for my work with business leaders. Through executive coaching and professional learning events, I guide my clients as they identify their strengths, develop resilience, and embrace wellness to integrate an authentic sense of self with an impactful professional career.
Having a background as a wellness coach and a dance fitness trainer, I energize learners and clients to embrace multiple aspects of themselves through meditation and movement. It’s not unusual to stretch, sing, dance, or find a few moments of deep breathing during learning or coaching.
I graduated from the University of Florida with a BA and an MA in Communication and a graduate certificate in gerontology. Fascinated by how communication influences behavior and mindset, I continued learning at Oakland University, earning an MA in Counseling, specializing in community mental health and psychological assessment. I love working with clients in both English and German. Through the Center for Credentialing and Education, I’ve been certified as a coach, with specializations in Executive Leadership, Wellness, and Life Coaching.
